AIET - outcomes of Randomized Clinical trials

1. Fujita K, Ikarashi H, Takakuwa K, Kodama S, Tokunaga A, Takahashi T, Tanaka K. Prolonged disease-free period in patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer after adoptive transfer of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes. Clin Cancer Res. 1995

Type of cancer: Ovarian Cancer

No. of patients: 13 patients were given AIET along with surgical resection and chemotherapy. 11 patients treated with only surgical resection and chemotherapy were kept as controls

Inference: Patients who were treated with AIET had increased survival rate and increased disease free survival rate (P<0.01; P<0.05)

2. Kimura H, Yamaguchi Y. A phase III randomized study of interleukin-2 lymphokine-activated killer cell immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy or radiotherapy after curative or noncurative resection of primary lung carcinoma. Cancer. 1997

Type of cancer: Lung cancer (Stage II-IV)

No. of patients: 82   patients were given AIET along with resection and chemotherapy/radiotherapy. 88 patients treated with only surgical resection and chemotherapy/radiotherapy were kept as controls

Inference: Patients who were treated with AIET had increased survival rate (P<0.001)

3. Takayama T, Sekine T, Makuuchi M, Yamasaki S, Kosuge T, Yamamoto J, Shimada K, Sakamoto M, Hirohashi S, Ohashi Y, Kakizoe T. Adoptive immunotherapy to lower postsurgical recurrence rates of hepatocellular carcinoma: a randomized trial. Lancet. 2000

Type of Cancer: Liver cancer

No. of patients: 74 patients were given AIET after surgical resection. 76 patients treated with only surgical resection were kept as controls

inference: Patients who were treated with AIET had increased survival rate and increased disease free survival rate (P<0.09; P<0.01)

Type of Cancer: Stomach cancer (Stage-IV)

No. of patients: 22   patients were given AIET along with Chemotherapy. 22 patients treated with only chemotherapy were kept as controls

Inference: Patients who were treated with AIET had increased survival rate (P<0.05)
